Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the album will be done early-mid December. And once that is done, it will be huge amount of stress off of me. Then I can start stressing about getting people to actually listen to it.
I will be scheduling a photoshoot soon. I'm trying to get an appointment with [link] from Amsterdam. They do mostly weddings and high school photos, but they also do bands and models. Their photos look so good, I hope we can work with them.
I'm almost sad that I've been so preoccupied with recording that I haven't been able to help as much with the changes going on in the live band. Mike has really been a positive addition/replacement/substitution...whatever you call it. Some examples: instead of running backing tracks off a laptop using windows media player we now run Ableton Live off a dedicated, rack-mountable music PC, we are effectively running live VSTs rather than an approximation off the hardware synthesizer (in other words, we're using all the real sounds from the recordings/PC, whereas before we tried to get as close to the sound as we could get from the standalone keyboard), also Mike is a very good bassist who gets a kick out of trying different things (like playing keyboard as well and some other things).
We are trying to update our stage setup. I'm replacing the less than spectacular gobo lights with a pair of Chauvet minspots (movable fixtures, you know, the ones that spin up and down and all around like the pros use). I'm also trying to get some banners for the stage. That depends on Schuyler's photoshop skills. There is also talk of a website revamp with help from Schuyler's friend who lives in Saratoga. I'm thinking that soon we may need to have a big meeting of everyone who wants to pitch in on the S.I.C. project (Denny's? Next weekend? We'll see...)
I'm increasingly taking on a role that is more like a manager/supervisor as opposed to an auteur who dictates how everything goes. Admittedly, I'm enjoying it. I like the "hustle and bustle" of a group working together. It may not be entirely my sole vision, but I think the energy from the enthusiasm that including others brings will propel the project further than if I were to carry it entirely on my own.
The winter may be getting nearer, but I have no intention to hibernate.
